Living on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a modern, dynamic and sophisticated city and the gateway to Southeast Queensland’s most spectacular natural attractions. The Gold Coast has a wide variety of built and natural attractions including:

  • 70 km of beaches with an average water temperature of 22 degrees
  • Theme parks, major shopping centres, galleries, boutiques and markets
  • Tropical rainforest with abundant wildlife and numerous bush walks

The Gold Coast stretches along 70 kilometres of beautiful coastline and boasts one of the most beautiful hinterlands in Australia. Whether you want to learn to surf or hike through the rainforest, the Gold Coast offers everything you need to live and study.

Population: The Gold Coast has a population of approximately 500,000 people.

Climate: Gold Coast City’s climate is sub-tropical with 287 days of sunshine annually.

Average Summer Temperatures:19 to 29 degrees Celsius (66 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit)

Average Winter Temperatures:9 to 21 degrees Celsius (48 to 69 degrees Fahrenheit)

Cost of Living:

Renting an apartment can cost anywhere from $200-$350 per week depending on location and size. Many students choose share accommodation with other students which is a great way to share the costs of rent and food. Eastern Shores International has a Homestay program with families in the local Coomera area.

It is recommended that you allow at least $100-$230 per week for accommodation and another $100-$150 for incidental living costs-food, transport and entertainment.

➢ Movie ticket $14.00

➢ A meal at a restaurant $15 - $30

➢ Theme park ticket $50

Food:

➢ Bottle of milk $2.00

➢ Apples $3.00 per kilo

➢ Chicken breast $12.00 per kilo

Coomera Training College Australia is able to assist you with finding accommodation by providing you with a list of our preferred student accommodation providers. In addition we can arrange a home stay experience with a local family through Eastern Shores. The cost of your accommodation, living and travel expenses are not included in the fees outlined in the fee schedule.

School- aged dependants

All prospective students should be aware that if they have school- aged dependants coming to Australia with them, they will be required to pay full fees if they are enrolled in either a government or non government school.
